About ipTV

ipTVDuring 2011 many ipTV platforms have become available in Australia to deliver content directly into loungerooms - from internet enabled PlayStations and X-box', to internet-enabled televisions from major brands including Sony, Samsung and LG.

These ipTV platforms are not just digital televisions with a web connection. Microsoft, Sony, LG, Google, Apple et al all maintain their own landing portals that act as the gateway to the web. These portals are really EPG - electronic program guides that offer visitors a range of television that the manufacturer hopes will engage you and keep you on their platform. In effect the major manufacturers of televisions and set top boxes are turning themselves into internet television stations.

The programs you will find are a combination of licensed material from channels also found on Foxtel, plus some rebranded content from producers such as the ABC. BBC and shortly production companies. You will also find some aggregated content presented by either Blip or Youtube. This is not their regular fare, rather it is specially selected high-definition versions of quality shows and episodic video.

This is where ipTV comes in. Regular (read daily or weekly) programs produced in HDV and appealing to a niche within the mainstream will become a staple of ipTV programming. Sometimes called "short form" video, these pieces need to be targeted and have a duration of not less than 4 minutes and not more than 10 minutes (although the trend is to longer rather than shorter).

The Theatre Show is equipped with our own digital television studio complete with advanced green screen capability. We are at the forefront of ipTV production in Australia.
