In The Spotlight
Each week The Theatre Show presents a segment called "In the Spotlight". The purpose of this segment is to showcase a new production with the specific intent of helping to sell tickets. In the Spotlight is not a review, it is a profile. Our intention is to show the production in the best possible light.
Our procedure for In the Spotlight is very similar each week. First we interview the Director and then any other crew or cast member that the Director thinks appropriate. We then film the show. Our editor then illustrates the interview with matching short segments from the show to provide an informative and entertaining profile.
We only use a few seconds of any one scene at a time, being careful to avoid giving away plot developments that may spoil the experience for patrons. Overall less than one minute of footage is used - less than a film trailer.
We prefer to film at a dress rehearsal or press call in advance of the show opening. This gives our editor time to prepare your episode and get it to air before the show actually opens, to give you the best chance of benefiting through increased ticket sales. If your show runs for more than one week, then we can attend opening night.
What Producers should know about In The Spotlight
The footage is only used for the purpose of illustrating your episode of In The Spotlight and then it is deleted. We do not sell, give, rebroadcast or re-purpose the footage at any time. Only footage that presents your show in the best possible light is used. We need to film the majority of the show in order to find the sequence that best matches to the words in the interview and also to give our editor options in finding a really good performance to use. This is essential and we cannot do an In The Spotlight without substantial footage of the show in HD. You may provide that to us if you wish.
In The Spotlight is free to the Production in return for you essentially providing content to our show. In the Spotlight is syndicated across the web and also runs on TVS in Sydney, providing a combined audience of 100,000+ people a week.
